Privacy Policy
Last updated: 11 September 2026
This policy explains what happens to personal data when you visit AI Steve’s Travel Stories, an online memoir written and published by Steve Endacott. The site is editorial in nature — it publishes chapters of Steve’s writing and does not offer accounts, comments, newsletter sign-up, or any e-commerce functionality. This policy only needs to cover what the site actually does.
Who is responsible for your data
Steve Endacott is the author and publisher of this website and is the data controller for the purposes described below.
If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy or how we handle your personal data, please contact us at se@steveendacott.co.uk .
What data this site collects
The site itself collects no personal data directly — there are no forms, accounts, or fields for you to fill in. The only data collected is through analytics, and only once you have given consent:
- Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID
G-DTZMYLQBSJ) — records page views and a small number of custom events specific to this site: which chapter you view (its number and title), moving between chapters using the Previous/Next links, and clicks on the “Start from Chapter 1” and “Read the Latest Chapter” buttons. See the Cookie Policy for exactly which cookies this sets. - Standard hosting logs — like any website, the hosting provider serving these pages processes basic technical data (such as IP address and browser type) as an ordinary part of delivering web pages. This is not used by the site owner for any purpose beyond normal hosting operation.
Analytics only runs if you click “Accept” on the cookie banner. If you click “Necessary only”, or simply close the banner without accepting, Google Analytics does not load and no analytics cookies are set.
Why (legal basis)
Analytics data is only processed on the basis of your consent (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(a)), given via the cookie banner. You can withdraw that consent at any time — see “Your choices” below.
Where your data goes
Analytics data collected via Google Analytics 4 is processed by Google and may be transferred outside the UK as part of Google’s standard infrastructure. It is retained according to Google’s own Analytics data retention settings for this property, and is not sold or shared with any other third party by this site.
Your choices and rights
- Change your analytics consent at any time using the “Cookie settings” link in the footer of every page.
- Under UK GDPR you have the right to ask what data is held about you, correct it, have it deleted, restrict or object to its processing, and receive a copy of it. Because this site does not hold any account or identity data, these rights mainly concern analytics data held by Google — you can also manage this directly via your Google account’s Ad Settings and Google’s own privacy controls. To exercise any of these rights, contact se@steveendacott.co.uk .
- You have the right to complain to the UK’s data protection regulator, the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) , if you believe your data has been mishandled.
Children
This site is a general-audience memoir about a career in the travel industry and is not directed at children.
Changes to this policy
If what this site collects or how it uses analytics changes, this page will be updated and the “last updated” date above will change accordingly.
